United Technical Operations Center (UTOC)

Setting pre-assembled front box trusses, weighing up to 180 tons, with front and back trusses measuring over 265-feet long.

Peterson Beckner Industries was a proud project partner with Manhattan Construction on the United Technical Operations Center (UTOC) at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. For our part of the project, we assisted Manhattan Construction with the construction of a new wide-body hangar. The new hangar included over 265,000 square feet of space with 255-feet and 375-feet wide door openings, accompanied by a 26,000 square-foot engine build up unit, a 17,500 square-foot ground support equipment area, and a two-level administrative and technical operations area. PBI utilized shoring towers to set the pre-assembled front box trusses in sections, which weighed up to 180 tons, with front and back trusses which were over 265-feet long.
